CityCenter Centerpiece

MGM Mirage announced that the centerpiece hotel-casino at CityCenter will be named Aria, while at the same time acknowledging that its budget for the project has grown from an estimated $8.4 billion to $9.2 billion.
Alan Feldman, a spokesman for MGM Mirage, said the budget increase is the result of rising construction costs throughout the country.
Construction workers recently topped off the first building at CityCenter, Vdara, and expect to top off Aria, the 4,000-room, centerpiece hotel-casino in August.
“Aria will be demonstrable different than any resort that has preceded it,” said Bill McBeath, the resort’s president and COO. “Even in a city such as Las Vegas, with its extraordinary history of dynamic cutting-edge development, Aria will introduce a new generation of resort experiences.”
The Pelli Clarke Pelli designed Aria will include 4,004 rooms—568 suites—featuring floor to ceiling windows. It features 300,000 square feet of meeting and convention space in four ballrooms and a total of 38 meeting rooms.
