Looking Good

Looking Good

There is an old saying my father was fond of mentioning—usually as a way of expressing his displeasure with how I was dressed—that says, “If you look good, you will feel good.” Well right now, those of us at Casino Connection are feeling pretty good.

The staff of both the Las Vegas and Atlantic City offices has been working on a new look for the magazine for several months. This included a redesign of the cover led by Sarah Nichols, the art director in Las Vegas, and Rob Rossiello, the art director in Atlantic City, and a change in the layout of the pages.

It has been a group effort involving everyone in both offices, but I would be remiss not to mention these two individuals who put the most work into bringing a fresh feel to the pages of Casino Connection.

We couldn’t be happier with the results, and the feedback we’re receiving suggests that we’re not the only ones impressed with our hard work. We’ve heard from advertisers, other writers, friends, family and a handful of other people in the community who really like how the magazine looks. We would love to hear from you, too, whether you like it, love it or hate it.

This magazine is ultimately for you, the people who keep the state’s economic engine humming along. And if there is anything you don’t like about it, or if there is something you would like to see included, either on a regular basis or a special feature, we would love to know about it. You can contact anyone who works here through the e-mail addresses or phone numbers listed to the right of this column.

The magazine redesign is just one part of some pretty dramatic changes occurring here at Casino Connection. We will be working in the coming months on a redesign of our website to match the fresh look of the magazine. For too long now it has looked like our online presence was something of an afterthought, but that will no longer the case.

The new website will allow us to provide you a more interactive experience. It will also include some new features that have so far been limited to the website for our flagship publication, Global Gaming Business. We will start posting podcasts of interviews with the executives featured in the Nevada Q&A section, as well as featured performer interviews we started earlier this year. More often than not, we are forced to cut some comments when we transcribe these interviews because of limited space. The podcast will allow you to download the entire interview and listen to it at your convenience using your computer, iPod or MP3 player.

We’re also increasing our web presence with a new blog (blog.casinoconnection.com), the only one dedicated to the global gaming industry. The blog offers a lighter, somewhat more opinionated look at the news and issues affecting our industry, written by the experts who write for all the magazines and publications produced by our company.

We feel the blog offers a great forum to not only inform, but also to engage. Readers are able to post comments, rebuke statements, add information or simply sound off on the various topics discussed. It is a much more interactive medium than the printed page.

And if anyone would like to contribute an entry on the blog, just let us know and we’ll provide you with instructions on how to get your views heard across the gaming industry.

We hope you enjoy the product of our labors and will stop by and check out our new online offerings. Just like the magazine itself, the content we put online is also done specifically for you, the casino employees and executives of Nevada.
