Poker Opportunity
Opportunity Village’s Celebrity Poker Tournament returns to Caesars Palace on Saturday, May 12. Celebrity players scheduled to appear include Ronn Lucas, Earl Turner, Jose Canseco, Bobby Slayton, Robin Leach, Vinnie Favorito, Nathan Burton and performers from the Chippendales. Participants will compete for a grand prize spot in the 2007 World Series of Poker, plus additional cash and prizes from M.J. Christensen Diamond Centers.

The recommended contribution is $500 (benefiting Opportunity Village, the largest private provider of vocational training, employment, advocacy and recreation for people with disabilities in Nevada).

Players get a seat in the tournament with second chance opportunities available through the sixth round. For those not wanting to play, $50 grants access to watch the tournament and attend a VIP reception at PURE Nightclub featuring live entertainment, a diamond fashion show, open bar and gourmet hors d’oeuvre. Poker lessons by poker pro David Sklansky will be held from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m.


NASCAR at the Belle
The Colorado Belle’s May Days of Thunder promotion offers a chance to win a gas-powered NASCAR miniature replica go-kart and $500 cash every Saturday. Earn drawing entries through gaming, at hotel-check-in, through retail purchases, and by joining the One Club. Drawings are at 8 p.m. at the Grand Staircase.

    • Saturday, May 12: Tony Stewart Kart
    • Saturday, May 19: Kasey Kahne Kart
    • Saturday, May 26: Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Kart

NASCAR viewing parties at the Belle feature two drinks, stadium snacks and an entry for NASCAR merchandise drawings. Admission is just $10 per event. Events this month include:
    • The Crown Royal 400 on May 5, at historic Richmond International Raceway in Richmond, Virginia.
    • The Dodge Avenger 500 on May 12, at Darlington Raceway in Darlington, South Carolina.
    • The Coca Cola 600 on May 27, at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina.

Win an Official NASCAR Dale Earnhardt Jr. jacket and $200 cash in drawings at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 8, 15 and 22.

May 4-5, one of five “No Bull” cars driven in Talladega in 2002, Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s #8 car will be on display in Center Circle.


Horsing Around at South Point
Contestants in South Point’s Open Handicapping Contest will make 12 $20 win, $20 place, and $20 show wagers (mythical wagers) each of the three days of the contest.

Scoring will be based on track mutuels. Entry fee is $500, and participants receive a special room rate. There is $300,000 in total prize money based on 600 entries; $30,000 in total daily prizes.

Also, play 30 hours this month in South Point’s poker room and receive a logo poker room jacket; play 10 additional hours and receive a hat.


Triple Threat
Receive a Triple Crown T-shirt with a $20 sports wager on Triple Crown race days (Kentucky Derby May 5, Preakness May 19, Belmont Stakes June 9) at Terrible’s on Paradise.

On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday in May and June: Earn 1,000 points and receive $5 free gas; earn 2,000 points and receive $10 free gas; earn 3,000 points and receive $15 free gas. Points are not deducted; limit $15 free gas per day.


Stubs at the Hard Rock
Following concerts at the Joint, audience members can show their ticket stub and receive discounts throughout the property:

Mirage Poker Showdown
The Mirage Poker Showdown runs May 7-23 with 10 days of Limit and No Limit satellite events (buy-ins $500 to $5,000 plus entry fees $40 to $100) leading to the final event May 19-23, where the winner receives a $25,500 entry into the World Poker Tournament Finals at Bellagio in April, 2008.
