Tilman Fertitta is hoping renovations at the Golden Nugget will attract a younger demographic to the venerable Downtown Las Vegas casino, and also strengthen the brand, which he is hoping to expand outside of Nevada.

Reno Rates

While Reno’s average room rate is $72.28 a night, comparable cities like Sacramento averages $95.97 a night, and other Western cities also have higher average rates.

Santa Fe Improvement

If you haven’t been to the Santa Fe Station Hotel and Casino at North Rancho Dr. and U.S. 95, you might want to check it out. The property, purchased by Station Casinos in 2000, is virtually a new facility. A $130 million renovation is underway and in December several elements opened to the public.

As one of the entertainers in town for the National Finals Rodeo, singer-songwriter Vince Gill took time out of his schedule to get involved with a charity effort at the Las Vegas Hilton, where he was performing in the showroom.
