Vol. 3, No. 12, December 2007, Entertainment
Freebird
The current touring incarnation of Lynyrd Skynyrd comes to the Joint at the Hard Rock December 14 for an evening of whiskey guzzling, rebel rousing rock and roll.
The band is nowhere near what they were during their peak years in the mid-‘70s, and Johnny Van Zant isn’t half the singer that Ronnie was, but rather than bludgeon their fans with new releases—what David Spade refers to as “beer run songs”—Skynyrd sticks with the hits like “Gimme Three Steps,” “What’s Your Name,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” and, yes, “Freebird.”
Lynyrd Skynyrd plays the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel Casino December 14. Tickets are $62 and $122.
