Knocked Up
Seth Rogen, Katherine Heigl. Directed by Judd Apatow
The popular comedy
Knocked Up is the type of picture that not only makes you laugh but makes you care deeply about the main characters. The premise is simple; stoned-out slacker Ben (Seth Rogen) has a drunken one-night stand with pretty, successful Alison (Katherine Heigl), which results in her unexpected pregnancy. The delight of
Knocked Up is watching these two likable people make the most of their situation.
Alison has just landed her dream job as a correspondent on the E! channel, while Ben spends most of his time with his four oddball roommates getting high and planning an ill-fated sex web site. These two couldn’t be more different. Director Judd Apatow (The 40-Year Old Virgin) has a deft hand at ensemble comedy and the whole picture has a loose, improvisational feel. Knocked Up maintains the perfect balance between sweetness and raunchiness, between infantile humor and adult heartbreak. It will move you as much as make you laugh.
