Injuction lifted on Plaza name
A Clark County judge lifted the injunction preventing Elad IDB from using the Plaza name in relation to the $5 billion resort it is developing at the site of the New Frontier on the Las Vegas Strip.
The judge ruled that the lawsuit, brought by Tamares Las Vegas Properties LLC, the owner of the Plaza Hotel and Casino in Downtown Las Vegas, was unlikely to win on its merits.
Elad Group president Miki Naftali agreed with the ruling, saying the company has a federal trademark on the Plaza name that goes back more than 100 years.
If the preliminary injunction was seen as a small victory for Tamares, the latest ruling is certainly a victory for Elad.
The case is now headed to trial starting July 21.
