November numbers off
Even the Strip experienced an off-month in November
With no special events to bring in the high rollers, Nevada casinos experienced a 14 percent drop in their November wins compared to last year.
The Strip was the hardest hit, with numbers 19.1 percent off of numbers posted last year. According to Frank Streshley, the Nevada Gaming Control Board’s analyst, that can be largely attributed to no big events like there were last year when November featured two major concerts and a boxing match. There were also two fewer casinos with the New Frontier and Stardust both imploded earlier in the year.
The only areas that posted positive numbers came from Reno, where clubs were up slightly less than 1 percent and Elko County, which posted gains of 13.1 percent. Lake Tahoe was down 3 percent.
Among individual games, only poker and penny slots showed growth, with 1.4 percent and 10.2 percent increases respectively.
Overall, slots were down 7.7 percent and table games were down 25.2 percent.
Baccarat was down 60.7 percent.
The win at sports books was also down for November, about 51 percent lower than last year.
