Casino Host, Whiskey Pete’s

Joe Phillips
Some people like routine. They like knowing exactly what each day at work will hold for them before they leave their home. Others, like Joe Phillips, a casino host at Whiskey Pete’s in Primm, relish in the fact that in their jobs, no two days are ever the same. The job of a casino host is all about servicing the customer, and like snowflakes, no two people are alike. He likes the opportunity and challenge that comes with dealing with different personalities—and some can be more challenging than others. He enjoys solving problems and defusing potentially explosive situations. By treating the customers with respect, and having a little fun with them too, he has found a way to keep them out on the casino floor, which is good for everybody. The job has some exciting perks, too, like meeting band members during meet-and-greet sessions, and getting to be front-and-center for all the major events at the casino. His outgoing personality and quick wit in solving problems keeps the customers happy, and that is sure to keep the casino’s new owner, Herbst Gaming, happy as well.
