Golden Gaming proposes casino

By Casino Connection Staff   Mon, Mar 03, 2008

Golden Gaming Inc., the company that runs the PT’s and Sierra Gold Tavern chains throughout the state, as well as casinos in Colorado and Pahrump—and until recently managed casino operations at the Hard Rock—announced plans for a $50 million to $60 million casino in Carson City.

The 107,000-square-foot building would include a 220-room hotel and 13,000 square feet of conference space. It would be one of the largest casinos in Carson City.

The hotel tower would need a variance from city zoning laws the limit building heights to 45 feet.

City officials are excited, with Mayor Marv Teixeira calling the project “absolutely first cabin,” and Carson Chamber of Commerce Director Ronni Hannaman praising the conference space as “one of the most needed things in the city.”

The plans for the property—created by Las Vegas design firm Steelman Partners—say it will be named Sierra Gold.

The mayor said it could be at least a year before construction starts.
