Venetian Diamond
The Venetian in Las Vegas has been coveting the highest rating from AAA and the Mobil Travel Guide for several years, and finally got the single diamond that has been eluding the property.
The Venetian will now be ranked as a AAA Five Diamond Award winner, making it the largest property to receive the honor.
The award also ends an ongoing battle with neighboring Wynn Las Vegas for bragging rights on the north end of Las Vegas Boulevard. The two properties compete for guests, and that competition heated up last year when Wynn won its first AAA Five Diamond.
The accolades are a big deal among discerning travelers, according to Chris Hoag, director of marketing for Tripres.com, a travel reservations site operated by Prestige Travel in Las Vegas.
“Any property that’s willing to put their efforts into (the awards) will be rewarded,” said Hoag.
He said five-star properties in Las Vegas usually beat out similarly rated hotels in other cities on price, and unlike other cities, Las Vegas properties work feverishly to keep their hotels booked to capacity.
