50-50 for Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club
Business mogul and retired rapper Jay-Z announced that the third installment of his 40/40 Club will be built in the Las Vegas Sands Corp.’s Palazzo, scheduled to open in late 2007.

Jay-Z’s club started in New York, and is quite successful. He has tried to bring that success to Atlantic City, but so far, the club is struggling, to put it gently.

Las Vegas represents the perfect place for the third club, Jay-Z said.

“We represent what the entertainment capital of the world is all about, it’s only natural that we open here,” he said.

The 24,000-square-foot club will be a multi-level sports bar and lounge boasting 85 plasma screen TVs. There will also be five exclusive VIP rooms.

The club is named after the slang for the elite groups of baseball players who have amassed both 40 homes runs and 40 steals in a single season. There are currently only four players who have done that.

Rob Goldstein, president and COO of the Venetian and Palazzo, said the club will add to the exciting offerings that will be unveiled when the property opens on December 20.

“It is a great compliment for us that the 40/40 Club chose the Palazzo for their Las Vegas debut,” he said. “The choices here are endless and we are thrilled that 40/40’s third location in the United States will be an exciting part of the Palazzo.”

Jay-Z, who is regularly seen at nightclubs throughout Las Vegas, said he still plans to frequent those other clubs. He said he wants them to be successful, too, and he expects they will wish him success as well.
