Hail to the Suite
Officials at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno are naming a suite in honor of U.S. President George W. Bush, after he spent the night in the room recently.
Bush stayed in a 27th floor, 2,100-square-foot suite that rents for upwards of $1,000 a night.
“He was the first sitting president to spend the night in Reno,” said Richard Langlois, the resort’s executive vice president of sales and marketing. “We were excited about it. Now we’re really going to be able to say we have a presidential suite.”
Bush planned to dine at the resort’s Charlie Palmer Steakhouse, but was forced to settle on room service. Bush, whose 426 vacation days put him on pace to shatter the record for vacation days taken by a sitting president, reportedly expressed interest in coming back to use the resort’s outdoor driving range.
“He said the next time he was here he’d like to get out and hit a bucket of balls,” Langlois told the Reno Gazette-Journal.
