LV Sands sues Expedia
A leading online hotel reservation site is accused of advertising hotel reservations for the Venetian Hotel Casino in Las Vegas without permission of property owner Las Vegas Sands Corp.
Las Vegas Sands filed suit against Expedia, saying the company’s actions infringed and diluted the Venetian’s trademark when it continued to advertise hotel reservations after an agreement between the two companies expired.
While the agreement expired, Expedia still allows people to search for rooms at the Venetian. But, when people attempt to book reservations, they are told rooms aren’t available for the selected dates, and are routed to links for rival hotels.
