Handicapping Championships at Red Rock
The Daily Racing Form-National Thoroughbred Racing Association’s National Handicapping Championship is moving to its new home at the Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas in January.

The ninth championship, which crowns the handicapper of the year, will be held January 25 and 26, at Station Casino’s newest property.

The championship marks the conclusion of a series of tournaments held at racetracks, off-track betting facilities, casinos and online. It was held at the MGM Grand from 2000 through 2002. Bally’s Las Vegas hosted it over the past five years.

Changes at the race book at Bally’s prompted the move.

“We would have had to deal with a new group of management and it was just the right time to move,” said Keith Chamblin, senior vice president of communications and industry relations for the NTRA. “We visited several properties last January, and Red Rock and Art Manteris stepped up with a lot of interest.”

The NTRA signed a two-year deal with Red Rock.
