Vol. 4, No. 8, August 2008, Entertainment
Back to theFuture
Fans of synth-pop and the overt tackiness of the 1980s will no doubt flock to this year’s Regeneration Tour. The concerts taking place nationwide bring together four of the decade’s oddball artists for several fantastic nights of dancing and delirium.
Who could forget the Human League, Belinda Carlisle, Naked Eyes or ABC? Well, probably plenty of people, but true worshippers of the ‘80s will rejoice in the Regeneration Tour’s melding of new wave, keyboards galore and a member of The Go-Go’s.
With reunion tours rivaling farewell tours for concert revenues, it’s no surprise that even the most obscure bands have emerged from the woodwork for a comeback. And for those who are tired of the ubiquitous ‘80s arena rock tours, the Regeneration Tour may be the perfect dose of nostalgia without the big hair and tight pants. But where is New Order when you need them the most?
The Regeneration Tour hits Planet Hollywood August 2 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $69 and $125.
