Into the Blue
Las Vegas’ newest bar turns up the heat
Blue Martini has all the makings of a new hot spot—prime placement on the second level of the Town Square shopping center, live music and some of the best drinks in town.
Proof of the bar’s burgeoning popularity is evident the moment you step through the (packed) entryway. Partiers mill outside, fill up all available seating and sip drinks on any surface they can find. If crowds aren’t your thing, Blue Martini isn’t your place. But if a good time and a great happy hour are what you’re looking for, step inside.
Blue Martini opened in April as a Strip-esque restaurant and lounge alternative for Las Vegas locals. Socialites and businesswomen alike enjoy the sprawling restaurant’s blazing atmosphere. Winding through tables diffused by cool blue and warm pink lighting, there are multiple bartops at which to place your order, as well as an outdoor patio dotted with canopied tables.
Though many locals head to Blue Martini for the ambiance, most brave the masses to enjoy the restaurant’s happy hour. On Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Blue Martini is the site of one of the best drink specials around—half-priced martinis, wine and appetizers. Not only are the drink prices reduced, after the bartender serves up your specialty martini, she will also hand you the shaker. It’s like two martinis for a fraction of the price—what could be better?
Not that the prices are incredibly high. One martini costs about $12, and they are worth every penny. There is the classic Down and Dirty (Ketel One vodka, olive juice and three olives); the trendy Pomegranate (Absolute Ruby Red vodka, pomegranate liqueur, Citronge, cranberry juice and soda); the house special Blue Martini (Finlandia vodka, Citronge, blue cuaracao, sour mix and orange juice); and the just plain delicious Mango Madness (Finlandia mango vodka, Mango Schnapps and pineapple juice).
There are also dessert martinis for a guilty night out; see Three Chocolates (Three Olives chocolate vodka, Starbucks’ coffee liqueur and Godiva dark chocolate liqueur in a white chocolate-swirled glass); Cookies and Cream (Three Olives vanilla vodka, chocolate liqueur and cream in a cookie crust-rimmed glass); and Caramel Swirl (Three Olives vanilla vodka, butterscotch schnapps, Amarula cream liqueur and caramel syrup in a caramel-swirled glass).
There’s a drink for every personality at Blue Martini, and the personalities definitely overflow. This hotspot is a hotbed for meet-and-greets, with strangers mingling and becoming friends over favorites like the 007 martini (Bacardi O, orange juice and 7-Up). Popped collars, short skirts and a shared love of tanning beds and specialty drinks bring people together—or maybe it’s the music. Blue Martini features live performances every night, from acoustic sets to rock bands.
If you’re looking for the hottest in off-Strip nightlife, Blue Martini is your place. It’s a club with dining options, a bar with dancing and a restaurant with an ultra-lounge atmosphere all rolled into one. And there’s no denying the power of a truly great happy hour. So head on down to Town Square and see what everyone’s been talking about.
