Building a Better Binion’s
(l. to r.) Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, Binion’s owner Terry Caudill and Tim Lager, general manager of Binion’s, gather to toast the opening of Benny’s Bullpen Sports Bar & Cigar Lounge.
Terry Caudill has big plans for Binion’s. The owner of the Four Queens acquired the historic casino earlier this year, and wants to tap into the under-utilized spaces throughout the property.
Caudill completed the first such project in September, turning a seldom-used bar at the back of the property into a sports bar and cigar lounge.
Benny’s Bullpen is located next to the new race and sports book. With 10 plasma televisions, a selection of cigars and a full-service bar featuring a number of locally brewed beers, the lounge’s opening coincided with the start of the NFL season.
Caudill said when he first took over the property, the back bar was only used on Friday and Saturday nights, and the rest of the time sat empty.
Other areas of Binion’s that are not being used to their full potential include the second floor mall area and the rooftop restaurant and swimming pool. Caudill said earlier that he is already working on plans for these areas.
When he acquired Four Queens in 2004, Caudill turned the property around largely by investing more than $20 million into renovations and new venues like the Canyon Club. He plans to follow the same basic blueprint at Binion’s.
